Portable Timber Milling - We come to you!

At JPM,  We offer portable timber milling on your premises as well as milling at our factory in Strathfield South. For those who have had a tree cut down at home or at your business and want to save the trunk, we can come to you to mill it into slabs, posts or beams.

Both of our Lucas Mills require two people to operate and are easy to transport from us to you. We will require an inspection prior to supplying a quote as we need to assess access and whether the mill can be safely set up on the property.

Before you have an aborist cut down the tree, its best we come in to inspect access and the best place to drop the log. If we can't get to you before this, ask the aborist to drop the log in an open area that is accessible.

Portable milling reduces the cost of transporting a log into the factory as well as storage costs, if you can store the slabs in a good spot. It also eliminates the issue when logs are too big to transport. It reduces waste and enables you to customise the size, thickness, shape etc of the timber depending what you want to use it for.

Recent job...

Recently we were contact by a church in Seven Hills. They were removing a huge spotted gum tree for safety reasons but wanted to salvage the trunk to use to create furniture for the church and its community once they are seasoned. The log itself was 4.2m long and 1m wide. They wanted to avoid paying large transport fee's taking the log to a sawmill.

The access to this property was perfect with a wide drive-way and unrestricted access to where the log had fallen. The ground was flat which made for an easy and safe set up.

We were able to slab the majority of the trunk into 10 slabs at 70mm thick to be used for tables, the remaining round was cut into sections to be used for bench seats. There was also a large round that the customer asked us to cut into two to be used for coffee tables. The branches of the tree had been cut into smaller sizes that the customer was going to use as stump seating around the grounds and the rest became firewood for the community.

This was a great job to be involved in. The slabs were beautiful with some really incredible features within the grain. We cant wait to see what the church creates with their slabs once they are seasoned.

The team at JPM can come out to your property for a FREE inspection of access and the log to see if portable milling is the right for you!
